Copies of family documents of the Twysden family of Great Chart and East Peckham, Kent, including ones relating to a dispute over the commutation of tithes in East Peckham, 1639, and compositions for provisions due to the Crown from the county of Kent. A note on p. 86 suggests that some may have been collected by Richard Maitham, attorney, of Great Chart. Sir Roger Twysden has added his name twice (p. 161 and 170). Soldier, courtier, author and antiquary, Sir Roger Twysden made his home at Royden Hall in the county of Kent, England. He collected Greek and Hebrew manuscripts as well as printed books. Upon his death, his collection passed to Sir John Sebright (1767-1846) of Beechwood Park, Hertfordshire, who sold the main portion at auction through Leigh and Sotheby on 6 April 1807.
